ÖZERGUN is proud to represent the incredible Melbourne/Naarm music scene.
"I love this band's philosophy... their music is silly and serious."
Ajak Kwai - musician and PBS FM presenter
ÖZERGUN is a six-piece band of devout music lovers whose ages span over a decade between the oldest and youngest members. What originally began as a lonely solo project has turned into nothing short of family, and the band's culture has overflowed into the creation of a music community. A range of local artists now regularly rehearse and perform at the band's HQ in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
"Folk infused with hypnotic rhythms
and relatable observations"
RJ Frometa - Vents Magazine (Editor in Chief)
ÖZERGUN explores a variety of rock, funk, jazz, folk, and world music flavours through an Australian lens. Deeply personal yet refreshingly accessible lyrics further connect dots between local and universal truths. Their structured studio recordings transform into a showcase of musicianship and inventiveness during live performances, highlighting improvised solo sections and extended jam sessions.
"A blend of organic sonic textures and assured performances"
Vince Leigh - BMA Magazine

"Full of variety, class, energetic sensational instrumental work, and just god damn terrific... I love this band's style and their creativity, such a class act," Sezzy's Muso Blog.
Kris, Harrison and Louis all studied together at the infamous Box Hill Institute. The three of them gained invaluable industry experience which is now paying off for the whole band. Kris the Cat Empire fanatic is a multi woodwind instrument player in high demand. The backbone of the band, Harrison the one-man-garrison, is a die-hard drummer with roots in both heavy rock and jazz. Louis is a lead guitar magician whose Scottish background combined with his fast fingers and love of pedals have given him a unique melodic spice. The band's utility man, Jerome, has managed to teach himself how to play any and every instrument by just listening to artists like Primus and RHCP. Zain is the undisputed prodigy of the group. After teaching himself music theory, he then conquered bass guitar at NCAT under the watchful eye of jazz extraordinaire Conrad Henderson. Anatolian rock and Rodriguez were Sami's biggest influences as a kid but his guitar style found its flavour in his mid 20s when he spent several months learning from jazz samba maestros in South America. Currently, his vocal mentor is Australia's new champion of soul singing - Laura Ingram.
